1
Pack the skis in the long ski bag if you own skis. Place them so the bindings face away from the skis, and use any internal retaining straps in the bag. Pack soft gear around the skis to add further protection. Extra hats, gloves, socks or lightweight vests make good items to pack around the skis.
-
2
Bring clothing appropriate for the skiing. As a rule, wear mid- and lightweight non-cotton layers instead of one large, bulky layer. Bring synthetic or wool long underwear, wool socks, fleece or puffy vests and pullovers, hard shell parka, and ski pants or bibs. Take them off as you get too hot; unzip or zip up and add layers to help regulate heat throughout the day without overheating.
-
3
Pack the ski helmet and boots in a duffle and pack your street clothes around them. Pack the helmet and boots with extra layers, pants and shirts.
-
4
Pack your ski goggles in a non-abrasive bag and pack them into the helmet along with soft clothing to keep them protected.
-
5
Collect sun screen, lip balms and goggle anti-fog cream and put them in a small ditty bag to prevent them from opening and getting all over gear and clothing.
-
6
Zip and close the bags and add a luggage tag that includes your name and email address. Fill out a small piece of paper with your address, name of the resort or hotel where you are staying, and your cell number. Fold this over and slide it into the luggage tag so the information is there, but is out of sight. Do this as a safety precaution.
-
7
Close the zippers and bags with TSA approved locks. These locks are used if you fly, as TSA agents have the special tools to open them, inspect the bags, then close the locks again.
