List of Snowboarding Companies

Leading snowboarding companies remain on the cutting edge of design and technology with innovative approaches to manufacturing. The oldest snowboarding companies began when athletes were not happy with their boards and decided to create their own products. These pioneers now lead companies that sell the world’s most famous snowboarding brands.

    Burton Snowboards

    • Jake Burton founded the world’s first snowboard factory in 1977. After years of modifying snurfers, the precursors to modern snowboards, Burton decided to open a factory and build his own product. With the goal of making just 50 boards a day, Burton and two friends went into business. Today, Burton snowboards, boots, bindings, clothes and accessories are sold in shops around the world and on the manufacturer’s website. Like other major snowboarding companies, Burton makes snowboarding movies featuring its sponsored athletes. It also created the “Learn To Ride” (LTR) program, a series of products and lessons targeting beginning snowboarders. LTR centers are located at over 140 resorts around the world.
