Buy a soccer ball and learn the basics. Repeat dribbling sequences and drills until you master them. Study kicking variables such as angle, wind direction, distance to the goal and position of both opposing players and teammates. Learn different techniques such as striking the soccer ball with your laces to take a long-range shot or kicking with the inside of your foot for short range goals. Enroll in a beginner's soccer class through your local Parks and Recreation Department or soccer club.

Study and memorize the rules of the game. Practice techniques daily in your backyard or at the park. Enlist the aid of another player to polish your passing skills. Sharpen skills such as heading and tackling. Join a team. Listen to your coach. Watch soccer games both on television and in person. View online videos. Research and attend soccer camps, either in your area or out of state.

Determine whether you want to play in a recreational or competitive league. Try out for middle and high school soccer teams. Concentrate on soccer year-round if playing competitively. Hire a private coach. Attend soccer seminars. Research which universities and colleges have state-of-the-art soccer programs. Study hard and apply for athletic scholarships.

Stay fit through stretching, strengthening and conditioning. Run daily to build up your stamina during a game. Lift weights and perform repetitive drills for muscular endurance training. Use agility drills to improve body coordination and foot speed. Be sure to stretch before, during and after exercise to develop range of motion as well as increased flexibility. Remain focused on staying in shape during off season training. Eat a balanced diet and supplement with daily vitamins.

Develop friendships with other women soccer players. Find a female mentor. Choose women teams that bring out your attributes and strengths.
