How to Rewrap an Aluminum Softball Bat

Wrapping an aluminum softball bat requires precision and the right touch. You need to have the bat wrapped exactly to your liking to achieve maximum results in the batter's box. You will be ineffective at the plate if your aluminum softball bat is not properly wrapped. Sometimes, the aluminum softball bats need to be rewrapped just because of the wear and tear the bat has gone through throughout the course of a season. Whatever the reason, rewrapping your bat is a fairly simple process that requires patience and precision to get the job done perfectly.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the existing bat tape from the aluminum softball bat. The tape may be difficult to remove, so you may need to use an X-Acto knife and cut a line through the current tape to make removing it easier.

    • 2

Pick out the type of aluminum bat tape that you wish to use. Aluminum bat tapes come in a variety of colors, designs and textures.

    • 3

Start by wrapping the aluminum bat tape above the knob of the bat. Do this several times and continue to wrap it in that area until it is as thick as you wish it to be. Make sure that it is thick enough to prevent your hands from stinging when you swing the bat.

    • 4

Spin the bat so that the tape winds up toward the barrel of the bat in a spiraling motion.

    • 5

Keep wrapping the bat until the handle is the thickness you want. The tape must overlap itself by half an inch to create the proper grip. Cut the tape and squeeze it to make sure it settles properly.
