What are the Different Types of Softball Bats?

There are many types of softball bats to use. Some are regulated for American Softball Association (ASA) play while some are used to play non ASA-related leagues. Makers of softball bats make up softballs for both occasions. For ASA-related play, the bat must weigh a certain weight and be a certain length. If not, the bat is unauthorized and if caught being used, the team or player could face penalties.
  1. Louisville Slugger

    • Louisville Slugger is the oldest baseball and softball bat makers. It was the first manufacturer to create a softball bat where the handle and head are made of two different materials.

    DeMarini

    • DeMarini softball bats are made of one material, which widens the sweet spot on the bat for the batters.

    Easton

    • Easton bats have a lighter handle and heavier barrel. They are designed for stronger batters but the sweet spot of the bat is central.

    Worth

    • These softball bats are multi-layered, widening up the sweet spot on the barrel.

    Miken

    • Miken bats are lighter than other bats because the barrel doesn't have a lot of filler material. The bats are enforced from top to bottom with aluminum and are primarily used as practice bats.
