How to Catch a Ground Ball in Softball
Instructions

-
1
Stand strong but loose as you anticipate the ground ball. Your feet need to be spread apart with your left shoulder, if you're right handed, pointed to the base you plan to throw the player out, most likely first base.
-
2
Place your left foot somewhat in front of the right foot as you keep the feet apart.
-
3
Set the glove on the ground as the ground ball comes to you. If you don't put the glove on the ground, the softball goes right through your legs. Try placing the glove on the ground by solidly hitting the dirt with it before the softball approaches you.
-
4
Keep the glove wide while not letting your eyes off the softball as it comes all the way towards the glove and your body. Stay in front of the ball.
-
5
Use both hands to bring the ground ball into your glove and up to the body in order to throw the softball to the base.
