How to Buy a German Luger
-
Dealers
-
As with buying any collectible, you want to find a trusted dealer. In this case, you will want to speak to other collectors and gain some word of mouth on different dealers' reputations. If you don't know any other collectors personally, consult gun-related publications that showcase different dealers.
Internet Buying and Selling
-
Other major sites on-line serve as forums for the buying and selling of arms like Lugers. They act as showcases for the inventories of many different sellers in one location. GunsAmerica is one such site and has an array of different Luger models, production years and prices. Prices range from around $900 to over $6,000, depending on the make, condition and seller's prerogative.
Newer Models
-
If you are not determined to get a historical piece from the Second World War or before, newer Lugers are made in stainless steel and can be purchased from the manufacturer Stoeger. Also, Mauser made Lugers during the 1970s. They are probably in better condition than some of the older models but are rarer and thus difficult to locate.
