Handgun Laser Training

Lasers are not designed to make you shoot better, but quicker. They can also be effectively used as a deterrent in adverse situations. They are as much tools for not shooting as shooting. Lasers have no real use in target shooting except for fun.
  1. Starting Out

    • Initial training with lasers should be from a benchrest position so you can familiarize yourself with the feeling of shooting with a laser. Use the iron sights of the handgun to aim and focus on the laser's position on the target.

    Placement

    • Focus on the target.

Advance to a standing, ready position. Raise the gun and, using the same form as you did on the bench, engage the target using the laser to guide in to the final point of impact, the bull's eye.

    Point Shooting

    • Develop a reflex to combine the maneuver of aiming and putting the laser point on the exact point of intended impact. Do not ever let your eye's focus stray from the point of impact.
