Types of Water Bottles
-
Plastic Bottles
-
Plastic water bottles made from long-term use are made from a plastic called polycarbonate. Until recently, polycarbonate has contained an additive called bisphenol-A (BPA). BPA is no longer used because it is now considered dangerous.
Metal Bottles
-
New additives are being tested to replace BPA. Because of this, metal water bottles have become increasingly popular. Metal water bottles are made from stainless steel or aluminum.
Bottle Sizes
-
Water bottles come in just about every size.
Accessories
-
There are many bottle tops available, including "pop tops" and lids that flip open. As for portability, there are clips that attach to a backpack, bike or belt loop. Insulated holders are also available to keep liquids cool.
Use and Care
-
Reusable water bottles should only be used for cold or room temperature liquids unless otherwise specified. Some are dishwasher safe, and others are better cleaned by hand washing with warm water and soap.
