How to Make Your Own Goalie Shirt

Every player on a sports team is pivotal in the success of the team; the goalie's job is no exception. Goalies need excellent hand-eye coordination, lightning-quick reflex and confidence to defend their team's goal and prevent the opposing team from scoring. A goalie's jersey is often distinctive from the rest of the jerseys worn by the players on the team, which gives goalies the opportunity to create a unique shirt to fit his personality.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay out your T-shirt on a clean, level workspace covered in newspapers; the newspaper will help prevent you from splattering paint on your table or workbench.

    • 2

Drizzle the acrylic paint onto the T-shirt in whichever pattern you wish; you can also dip a paintbrush into the paint and spatter the paint onto the T-shirt to create a speckled pattern. Let the paint dry completely.

    • 3

Turn the T-shirt over and repeat Step 2 on the back of the shirt.

    • 4

Trace the numbers and letters you want to put on the back of your goalie jersey on tracing paper. The most common number for a goalie to wear is 00; you can also make letters to make your last name or nickname. Cut out the outlines and trace them onto a piece of felt and a piece of chenille or other textured fabric. Cut out the felt and chenille letters and sew the chenille outlines onto the felt outlines.

    • 5

Sew the numbers and letters to the back of your goalie jersey on your sewing machine.
