1
Hold the racket in an "eastern forehand" grip style. The eastern forehand grip is holding the racket by placing the palm against the bevel on the same plane as the string face, pinky finger along the bottom of the grip.
-
2
Look at the grip as you're holding the racket in your hand. You will see a space between the palm and the fingertips.
-
3
Slide your non-dominant index finger into the space between your palm and fingertips. The finger should slide perfectly into the space between the tip of your ring-finger and palm. If your index finger can't fit, the racket grip diameter is too small. If there is additional space after placing your finger on the grip, the racket grip diameter is too big.
-
4
Measure your palm if you don't have a racket available. Hold your hand out, fingers extended and placed close together. Hold a ruler on the palm. Measure from the middle-lateral crease on your palm to the tip of your ring-finger in inches. Round the measurement to the nearest 1/8 inch.
