How to Secure My Glasses at Cheerleading

Sometimes it isn't possible to wear contacts all the time, so when you do have to break out your glasses, you want to make sure they are secure. It can be a potential health hazard if your glasses fall off in the middle of a sporting activity, such as cheerleading. There are several ways to secure your eyeglasses, whether it is by making a lanyard or buying an eyewear strap.

Instructions

  1. Securing With an Eyeglasses Strap

    • 1

Open the manufacturer's packaging and throw unwanted materials away.

    • 2

Remove the eyeglasses strap. An eyeglasses strap is an elastic band with two plastic loops on each end.

    • 3

Stretch the elastic slightly in order to slip the plastic loops over each frame. Tighten them so that they are secure by sliding the metal clamp up toward the plastic hoop.

    • 4

Wear the glasses and style your hair over the band to either hide it or so that it will not be in the way while you cheer.

Securing With a School Spirit Lanyard

    • 5

Acquire beads that are in your school colors. These can be purchased at any craft store.

    • 6

Measure the length from the back of the curved part of the glasses ear piece to the other, allowing for the width of the curve of your head. Cut a length of wire that is one inch more to allow for wire wrapping.

    • 7

Use the pliers to tighten the wire around the metal end of the eyeglasses loop. Eyeglasses loops can be found online, in craft shops and sometimes at your eye doctor's office. Tighten the wire so that it goes through the loop and then wraps several times around to be sure it's secure.

    • 8

String the beads, alternating colors or stringing them in your own pattern.

    • 9

Use the pliers to attach the wire to the last eyeglasses loop, pulling it through the loop and wrapping it several times around the metal base to secure it.

    • 10

Slip the frame ends through one loop, and put the glasses on. You might need someone to help you pull the other end on over your head. There will be no stretch or give, so be careful with your glasses. You should have no issues if you measured them correctly. The wire and loops will keep your glasses secured to your head for your cheering activities.
