How to Clean a Squash Court

Squash is a racket sport played by two to four players at a time. Squash is played on a court enclosed by four walls. A small, hollow rubber ball is hit against the wall using rackets and then bounces on the court before being hit by the opposite team or player. The flooring used in a squash court is traditionally made from maple wood; however, it can also be made using any other type of wood or fabricated wood. When the ball hits the wood, it leaves behind a butyl-rubber dust that can make the floors slippery. Because of this, the squash court should be cleaned after each use.

      Push a cotton, synthetic or a cotton/synthetic blend dust mop across the squash court. Remove dust from the entire surface. This will attract and clean dust more efficiently than using a broom.

      Dampen a soft cloth with cool to room temperature water. Do not use hot water.

      Wring the cloth to remove excess moisture. The cloth should be slightly damp, not dripping wet.

      Wipe any residue or remaining dust using the damp cloth. If the cloth leaves traces of moisture behind, it is too wet and should be wrung further. Dry any excess moisture with a dry cloth or towel immediately to prevent water damage.
