Court Dimensions
-
According to the World Squash Federation (WSF) rules, a singles squash court measures 32 feet in length and 21 feet in width. The front wall line is located 15 feet above the floor and the floor to ceiling measures 18.5 feet. The dimensions of the doubles court are the same except for the width, it is 25 feet wide.
Wall Markings
-
All lines marked on the walls and floor are 2 inches in width. On the front wall is a service line, board and "tin", all running the width of the wall. The service line is 6 feet above the floor. At the base of the wall is the "tin", measuring 17 inches in width. This serves as the net, similar to tennis, and is made with metal; when hit with the ball it makes a distinctive sound. The board is 2 inches in width and is just above the "tin." Along the back wall is a horizontal line, seven feet above the floor. Along each side wall is a line connecting the front wall line to the back wall line. This line will be on an angle because of the difference in height between the front and back wall.
Floor Markings
-
The rules also state that all floor markings must be flush with the floor's finish and be made of a non-slip material. The short line runs parallel to the front and back walls. It is 14 feet from the back wall. The half court line divides the back court into equal sections. It runs from the back wall to the short line and is parallel to the side walls. There is a 5.25-foot-square service box on each side of the court. They are positioned against the side wall and behind the short line.
Door Rules
-
The WSF rules recommend the door leading into the court be located in the middle of the back wall. The door opens into the court and measures 3 feet in width and 7 feet in height.
