To improve swimming skills, sign up for a toddler program for kids age 1 to 3 years old. The toddler program is for toddlers who are ready to swim independently, and the goal is for the participants to enter into a survival float after being submerged into the water.
Benefits
-
Toddlers benefit from swim lessons by learning various skills in the water. Swim Venture teaches students age 8 weeks to 6 months to be comfortable in the water and avoid panic while also learning to hold their breath. Kids ages 1 to 3 years learn to hold their breath on cue and float. According to Infant Aquatics, infants and toddlers up to 1 year old can learn to hold their breath underwater and swim in face-down position then roll to a face-up back float. Toddlers who are more active can learn to swim independently for a short distance between two parents.
Types and Levels
-
When choosing a swim class for a toddler, inquire about the different class types and levels the school offers. Choose a type that best fits your schedule, needs and is a class level appropriate to the toddler's abilities. Class types are often conducted as private or one student per teacher, semi-private or two to three students per teacher and group of four to six students per teacher.
