How to Get Sponsored in Tennis
Instructions
-
-
1
Take out a USTA membership. Use your membership to find out information about USTA ranking tournaments in which you must play in order to improve your ranking and thus qualify for sponsorship.
-
2
Contact your local tennis professional and inquire about taking tennis lessons. Get in touch with your local pro and tell him about your aims and ambitions, such as wanting to reach a ranking level in which you could obtain sponsorship. Attend your lessons and solicit as much advice as possible from your coach, including which equipment to use, how to construct points on court and insights on technique and strategy, and fitness instruction. Ask your professional if he has his own sponsorship and how he obtained it.
-
3
Play and win ranking tournaments to boost your USTA ranking, which is grouped by your gender and, if you're under the age of 18, your age group. Keep track of your achievements, making sure you take photographs of any trophy presentations you receive and keep all medals and certification that you get.

Get in touch with different sports and tennis equipment brands once you have satisfied their criteria for sponsorship. Note that Prince has three different levels of sponsorship for players between the ages of 12 and 18; the lowest ranking a player can hold and achieve sponsorship with Prince is "preferred team members" level. Raise your ranking level to the top 200 in the nation in your age group or rank among the top four singles players in your state and age group. Obtain sponsorship from Adidas by achieving its minimum requirements: as a junior, you must be in the top 25 in your USTA section or top 150 in the nation in your age group, or be a current collegiate player, which you must be able to prove.

Fill out any forms required by the sponsor and provide supporting documentation. Apply for a Adidas sponsorship as a collegiate player, for example, by scanning and emailing, faxing or mailing a copy of your college tennis scholarship admission letter.
