How to String a Head Flexpoint Radical Racquet

The Head Flexpoint Radical racket comes in two head sizes. The mid-plus has 98 sq. inches and the oversize has 107 sq. inches. Because of this, the stringing patterns differ. To string either model you will have to buy a quality stringing machine, learn how to use it and use a string that is suited to your style of play. Stringing these rackets is a challenging and detailed process. It is crucial to use the correct stringing pattern and recommended tension.

Instructions

  1. Head Flexpoint Radical Mid-Plus

    • 1

Mount the racket securely to the machine according to the instructions. Set the tension. Most rackets have a 10-lb. tension range. This is determined by the manufacturer and is typically marked on the throat or frame of the racket.

    • 2

Measure out 20 feet of string for the main or long strings. Insert one end of the string through the first grommet hole right of the head's center. Thread half of the string down to the first grommet hole right of center at the throat. Clamp this string to keep it from moving. Thread the other end of the string through the first hole left of center at the head and down to the first hole left of center at the throat. Use the machine to tension or pull this string and then clamp it.

    • 3

Continue to thread, pull and clamp the main strings alternating from the right half to the left half of the racket's head with each pull. The main strings skip the 9th grommet holes off center at the throat and the 8th and 10th holes off center at the racket's head. Once all the main strings have been pulled, tie them off with secure knots at the 8th grommet holes off center on each side at the throat. Clip off the excess string.

    • 4

Tie a knot at the 6th grommet hole right of center at the racket's head. Thread the first cross string through the 8th hole right of center. Weave it over and under the installed main strings to the opposite 8th hole. Tension and clamp this string. Continue to weave, pull and clamp the remaining cross strings. Make sure the weave pattern from one cross string is opposite to the next cross string. There are no skipped holes and the last cross is at the 9th holes at the throat.

    • 5

Examine the cross strings to ensure there are no mis-weaves. Finish by tying a secure knot at the 7th hole off center at the throat. Clip off the excess string.

    Head Flexpoint Radical Oversize

    • 6

Follow the mounting and tension instructions in Step 1 for the mid-plus racket.

    • 7

Measure out 21 feet of string and begin threading the main strings as in Step 2 for the mid-plus racket.

    • 8

Continue to thread, pull and clamp each main string by using the same technique outlined in Step 3 for the mid-plus racket. The main strings skip the 8th and 10th grommet holes off center at the throat and the 9th hole off center at the racket's head. Finish the mains with secure knots at the 9th grommet holes off center on each side at the throat. Clip off the excess string.

    • 9

Tie a knot at the 6th grommet hole right of center at the head of the racket. Thread the first cross string through the 9th hole right of center. Using the technique outlined in Step 4 for the mid-plus racket, install all the cross strings. There are no skipped holes and the last cross finishes at the 8th holes off center at the throat.
