How to Make a Snorkel for an Adult

A snorkel is a device with a long tube and mouthpiece that lets you breathe with your head underwater. This means that you can view the underwater world without having to periodically lift your head out of the water to breathe. You can make your own snorkel in a few straightforward steps. Just be aware that the finished product, though functional, will not work as well as a professionally manufactured snorkel.

      Cut a length of 3/4 inch diameter plastic piping with a hacksaw. The length should be 12 to 14 inches.

      Attach a section of rubber hose about 8 inches long to the plastic tube by overlapping the edges of the hose over the side of the tube.

      Attach a mouthpiece for the snorkel to the end of the hose. You can purchase a mouthpiece from dive or snorkeling retailers, which normally stock spares.
