1
Measure the length of your chest, waist, hips and height using the tape measure. Determine your weight by stepping on the weight scale.
-
2
Refer to the size chart of the wetsuit. The sizing may vary depending on the manufacturer. Common sizes include extra small or XS, small or S, medium or M and large or L. You may see additional and unfamiliar sizes like medium tall or MT, large small or LS and large tall or LT.
The MT size is for those who have a medium built with longer arms and legs. The LS size is for those who have a large build with shorter arms and legs. The LT is for those who have a large build with longer arms and legs.
All sizes have matching measurements for chest, waist, hips and height. For example, medium Billabong wetsuits have a corresponding measurements of 169 to 174cm for height, 98 to 103cm, 77 to 83cm for waist and 150 to 170 lbs. for weight.

Try on two or three wetsuit sizes that match the range of your measurements. The wetsuit should have the appropriate length in the arms, legs and torso area without any bulges. Choose a size that fits snugly and has ample stretch for mobility. It should fit snug but comfortable without being restrictive.
-
4
Tug at the wetsuit material on your back, just above your backside. The gap should be small between your body and the wetsuit. If the gap is too big at this curve of your body, try a smaller size. Avoid bulges because they collect water and slow down your movements.
-
5
Test for comfort and range of movement by crouching, jumping, bending over and moving your arms. Feel for any restrictions of movement. The fit is appropriate if it's snug without any movement restriction, pain or discomfort.
