Homemade Baseball Name Cards
-
Classroom
-
It's the first day of class and you are welcoming a room full of new elementary students. It's early September and perhaps the Major League team from your town is in the middle of a hot pennant race. Have your students make their own baseball name cards so they can get to know each other. Have each student bring a picture of himself on the second day of school. Give them card stock paper and have them cut out their pictures and glue them to the cards and put their own names underneath their pictures, along with their favorite baseball position or jersey number.
Baseball Team
-
It's the first day of practice for your youth baseball team. You have a crew of 12 youngsters that you will be coaching, and to become a team, you all need to get to know each other. In order for this to happen, and to help facilitate your first practice sessions, make them baseball name cards. For example, you could make circular card baseballs with each player's name on it and stick them in cardholders with sticky tape or a safety pin on the back. You may have seen all these players in tryouts and you may want to assign a position to them by putting that position under their names on the card. This will help get your practice off to an efficient start.
Brithday Party
-
Your son or daughter may be a huge baseball fan. The birthday party you have planned will have a baseball theme. Have each child make her own baseball card. Get card stock paper and have a model of a baseball card. You can ask parents to send their kids to the party with a picture of themselves so they can make their own card. Have each child glue the picture to the top of the card stock, then write his name and favorite team on the bottom of the card. Collect all the cards and have them laminated. You can then send them back to your guests when your child writes her thank-you cards. It will make the party memorable for all guests.
