How to Improve Your Child's Batting

To become a great hitter, your child needs a lot more than hours and hours of batting practice. There are many other methods you can use to improve your child's hitting. Follow these steps to help your child become the best hitter he or she can be.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine which eye is dominant. Once you determine which eye is dominant you can help your child adjust his batting stance. Most righties are right-eyed, but not all.

    • 2

Buy your child a tee and have her spend hours and hours hitting off that tee. Believe me, if your child cannot consistently hit a ball off a tee, she is not ready for batting practice.

    • 3

Adjust the placement of the tee so that when it's an inside pitch your child pulls the ball, and when it's an outside pitch your child goes the other way with it.

    • 4

Make sure your child's bat is not too heavy. If he is popping a lot of balls up in the air it might be due to the weight of the bat.

    • 5

Throw batting practice to your child from a mound whenever possible. Throwing batting practice from flat ground does not simulate hitting a pitched ball that is coming at you on a downward angle.
