How to Do a Juke Move in Football

With 11 guys trying to tackle him, a running back in football needs all the moves he can get to have an advantage against would-be tacklers. The juke move is a way for a running back to fake out a defender and help him avoid being tackled. It can be used each time the running back carries the ball.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the proper position on the field and wait for the snap of the football.

    • 2

Accept the hand off from the quarterback, cradle the football and begin running. Keep the football tucked away from the defender to prevent fumbling.

    • 3

Run toward the defender as if you were planning to run directly into him.

    • 4

Fake to the left just before the defender attempts to make the tackle, then pivot (planting your left foot and then quickly twisting to the right) back to the opposite direction immediately.

    • 5

Continue running until you are tackled, forced out of bounds, or better yet, score a touchdown.
