Futsal Drills to Develop Attacking Teams
The following drills were presented by Everson Maciel, U.S. Futsal National Instructor & CJSA Futsal Technical Director, at the 2020 Soccer Champions Coaches’ Clinic.
1v2 Drill to Develop Dribblers and Build Up Creativity on Players
3 players will start at the end of the court. They will pass the ball and rotate in a 3-1 format. When the coach gives a signal the player that has possession of the ball will attack the goal and the other two players will defend him/her. If a player wins the ball he/she will attack the other goal when the other two players will defend he/she. The game continues for 30-45 seconds or until the balls goes out of bounds.
3v1, 3v2 and 3v2+1
3 players start at the end of the court rotating in a 3-1 format. On the coaches’ signal player attacks the defenders. The player with the ball should attack the center of the court to create two passing lanes with their players. 2 attacking players should make runs to the corner of the court. After receiving the first pass, players should look for the pass at the back post. Progression would be adding the second defender, then adding the third defender who will start by the goal and will defend after coaches’ signal.
5v5 Attacking for Different Situations
5v5 scrimmage where each field player has a futsal ball in their hands. Game will start with an extra ball. Players will assign a number. When coach shouts a number the player that has been called will drop their ball to the ground and the game will continue with the new ball. The old ball will be put to the side. after the new ball gets out of bounds, the coach will restart the game with an extra ball. game will be over when all players use their futsal balls. Coaches can create different situations when calling numbers. ex.: 1v1, 2v0, 3v2 and etc.
