How to Design a Sports Roster Booklet

Design a sports roster booklet before the start of the sport's season. A sports roster booklet is usually a sheet of 8.5 by 11 inch paper that is folded in half. The booklet includes a front cover, two middle pages and a back cover. The roster booklet is an important piece of public relations for your organization and the sport. The roster booklet is picked up and read by just about everyone who attends one of the games. Players, friends and families keep these roster booklets as mementos.

Pick an image for the front cover, such as the team logo, and place it in the middle of the page. The image can be placed with the help of a computer or it can be drawn on by hand. In addition to a logo, include on the front cover the name of the organization, name of the sport and the year.

Place the roster of the home and away team on the middle pages. This is most easily accomplished with the help of a computer. The home team roster should be on the left-hand page and should include information regarding the players. Important information to include is number, name, position, height, weight and hometown. The visiting team roster should be on the right-hand side. It is important to include information about the visiting team's players, but not as much as for the home team. For the visiting team simply include number, name, position and hometown.

Post the home team schedule for the season on the back page of the roster booklet. Include the date of the games, time and where they are being played. On the back page you can also place information on any sponsors that the team may have. Placing sponsor names and phone numbers on this page will keep them happy.
