About Soccer League Health Insurance
-
What
-
These insurance policies provide accidental medical insurance for amateur soccer teams of all ages and at all levels of soccer leagues. Accidental medical expense benefits can start at $5,000 or higher, and policies can be purchased from sports-specific insurance companies. These policies are designed to alleviate some of the financial and emotional burden on a family whose child is seriously injured while participating in sports, according to Westpoint Insurance.
These policies provide extra coverage for soccer teams for injuries suffered either while participating in a game or practice or during the travel to or from a soccer game. They provide coverage for what physicians would generally charge for customary medical treatment for the injury, according to E-Sports Insurance. These programs available for soccer leagues are considered excess, or secondary, insurance programs; they pay what the injured player's primary medical insurance does not cover, such as co-pays, deductibles or co-insurance or after the individual insurance limit has been reached. It only becomes the primary insurance if the player does not have insurance.
Not every situation is always covered; check with the insurance agent before you purchase insurance.
Who
-
With most insurance policies, any player, staff member or participant of a league, including coaches, trainers and managers, are covered when they are either at a league-sponsored event, including soccer practices, games or tournaments, or traveling to or from the event.
Liability Coverage
-
According to Soccer Scores and EPL News, another type of soccer league insurance is liability coverage in case the league is sued or a player who gets hurt during a game files a personal injury claim. This and other health coverage can last through the season or simply be a special events policy, depending on your league's specific needs.
Insurance For Soccer Coaches
-
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America offers $1 million in professional liability insurance to its member coaches; this coverage includes almost all of the soccer-related coaching activities a member will be involved in. This differs from other soccer insurance in that it does not cover the players and doesn't cover camps, games or various other activities; it only covers any member coaches as a personal form of liability coverage.
