How to Write a Playbook

Playbooks are a collection of plays that a coach will put together to keep them all in the same place. Every great coach has a great playbook. These playbooks do not just fall out of the sky, and you cannot purchase them at playbook stores; you have to make it. A playbook can be made from a notebook and written in pen for a very cost efficient option. Plays that go in the playbook can be self-created, used from past coaches or even taken from video games.

Instructions

    • 1

Brainstorm different ideas for the playbook. Think about how many plays will go in it and how many pages will be needed.

    • 2

Divide the plays into categories to better organize the playbook. This will make it simpler to find a specific type of play without having to flip through the book.

    • 3

Use subject divider tabs to divide the categories. These tabs will stick out of the side of the playbook with labels on them. If they are placed in different areas along the open side of the playbook, you will be able to see all the tabs when the playbook is closed.

Write the plays in the notebook with the pen. Each play should be written on its own page.
