How to Use Hula-Hoops for Golf Swing Training

Hula-hoops can help to train a golfer's uphill and downhill swings. A player who put a hoop on the ground can get a visual of how far out his hips swing as he swings the club. By making tighter uphill and downhill hip turns, a player can prevent a thin shot, which means the club is striking too high on the golf ball, and a fat shot, which means the club is hitting the ground before hitting the ball.

Place a Hula-hoop on the ground.

    • 3

Swing at an imaginary ball, and pay attention to your swing.

Focus on your uphill hip swing.

    • 5

Turn your right hip along the right curve of the Hula-hoop.

    • 6

Practice the swing until your right hip stays within the Hula-hoop area.

    • 8
