1
Call the resort where you will be snowboarding in advance to see whether it has rentals. Don't go to the resort assuming they have snowboarding boot rental, because if they don't then your only other options may be to borrow a pair from someone or purchase boots if they sell them at the resort.
-
2
Ask the resort what kind of boots they have available for rental. There are three main kinds of snowboarding boots, including soft, hard, and hybrid. Soft boots will be the most comfortable and stable for beginners. However, if you're a more advanced snowboarder you should make sure they have hard boots for the best ankle support.

3
Find out if you can reserve a pair of boots to rent from the resort. If you're going to the resort during a busy time of the year you may be out of luck if they don't have the size or type of boots that you need. Some resorts will reserve rentals for a small fee and others will tell you that they can't reserve the rentals.
-
4
Ask if there are packages for renting a variety of gear at once, if you need other things like gloves, goggles or a snowboard. For example, some resorts and rentals may have deals for packages for boots that complement a specific snowboard that can be rented.
-
5
Go to local sporting goods stores to see if the have rental shops for snowboarding gear. This option may be a little more costly since you won't be renting from an on-site shop, but it could save you trouble if the resort doesn't rent the boots you want. When signing rental agreements, make sure to read every detailso you won't be charged for damages to the gear. You may be given the option to purchase insurance on the boot rentals.
