How to Make a Snowboarding Wall

For many people, snowboarding is a fun and leisurely pastime. For others, it is an extreme sport and an opportunity to perform tricks. When you add half-pipes and jumps to a snow-covered hill, you are officially in "extreme sport" territory. However, creating the right snowboarding terrain can be tricky. If you want to put up a half-pipe with walls, for example, you need to pack the snow properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a location for your half-pipe. It's best to build one on as flat a surface as possible. This may be tricky on a mountain, but the closer to the base of the mountain the better. It's also ideal to create the wall out of the side of a hill or snowbank, which will greatly reduce the workload.

    • 2

Form a wall out of the snow about 6 feet high.

    • 3

Form the wall so that it is about 8 feet long.

    • 4

Form landing areas at the top of the wall about 4 feet wide.

    • 5

Form contours at the base of the wall that flow seamlessly into the ground.

    • 6

Repeat the steps about 8 feet across from this wall to form the other side of the half pipe.
