How to Make Homemade Surf Wax
Surf wax may seem cheap at around a dollar per bar, but if you're an everyday surfer or strapped for cash, its shocking how many bars you can go through in a short amount of time. And you're really just paying for the pretty packaging and the fruity scent. High quality surf wax can be easily made at home with readily available ingredients and at half the cost of the store-bought variety.
Things You'll Need
- Paraffin wax
- Microcrystaline wax
- Petroleum jelly
- Vistanex
- Large pot
- Large spoon
- Dixie cups

Warm a large pot over low heat.

Melt all the ingredients together in a large pot. The mixture should consist of 60 to 70 percent paraffin wax, 15 to 20 percent microcrystalline wax, 5 to 10 percent petroleum jelly, and 5 to 10 percent vistanex.

Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are fully melted and combined.

Carefully pour into Dixie cups, or other mold of your choice, and allow to cool for two hours.

Tear open the Dixie cups to release your homemade bars of surf wax.
