Different Ramps

The best way to perform a trick on a bike is to get some air. Using a ramp will assist the rider in getting the air needed to perform. Not all ramps provide the same launching abilities. Using different ramps allows the rider to practice and perfect the tricks in their run.
  1. Launch

    • Launch ramps do exactly what the name entails. With enough speed and accuracy, the rider approaches the ramp and takes off, getting enough air to be able to complete a trick like a table top. This type can connect to other ramps to create a sequence or combo of ramps to increase the trick possibilities. They come in various sizes to comply with the tricks the rider wants to attempt.

    Spine

    • Spine ramps are two launch ramps that are back to back with a ledge in the middle. The ledge is used for tricks and stunts pulled on the bike. The ledge or spine of the ramp provides stability for the structure as well.

    Half Pipe

    • Half pipes look like two launch ramps facing each other with space between where the rider can pedal and gather speed to go up the sides of the ramp. The rider takes on a pendulum-like momentum going back and forth between the two slopes, each time performing a trick. It is the most recognizable ramp and what is associated with skate parks.

    Quarter Pipes

    • Quarter pipes are used to gain speed to launch the rider up to gain air or onto the fun boxes where tricks are performed. They can stand alone or attached to create a combination of different ramps for doing tricks.
