BMX Skills

BMX bike riding takes on a whole new level when talking about extreme sports. Riders master how they use and control their bike. Their BMX skills shine through due to practice and patience with learning how to ride. Many riders are intrigued by the numerous and exhilarating BMX skills they see performed. There are thrilling BMX skills for beginners and advanced riders to attempt.
  1. Barhop

    • This basic BMX skill is ideal for beginners and yet is still an exciting trick for more-advanced riders to put their own mark on. The barhop is when riders go at a medium speed on their bike, put their feet together and then hop their legs over the front bar of the bike. Once your feet are over the bar, they will land on the front pegs, which are attached to the front wheel.

    Barspin

    • The barspin is a fundamental skill that most beginners learn first. Professionals also need to have this skill as part of their repertoire as more-advanced skills involve a barspin. While riding at a slow speed, make sure each of the pedals are parallel to the ground. Grip your inner thighs to the seat, pull back and you will create a wheelie. During this time, spin your handle bars until they make a full rotation.

    Pogo

    • The pogo is a more-intermediate BMX skill many riders like to perform. At a gradual speed, riders move their feet from the pedals to the back pegs. The brake is then applied and riders pull back to create a wheelie. While standing, riders shift their weight toward the back, so that when the wheelie is created, riders can then hop with the bike while standing on the back pegs.

    Fakie Rollback

    • Performed not only by riders just starting out, but by almost all riders is the fakie rollback skill. Riders roll up a slightly inclined hill at a steady speed. At the top of the hill, riders then pedal backward. Pedaling a bit more quickly, riders then push their momentum backward. When the bike starts to turn, spin the front of the bike with the rotation.
