1
Test your bike to ensure its capability for BMX flatland riding. Check that the brakes on the front and rear tires work and grip to your liking. Verify that the handlebars are sturdy and do not bend or sway during movement. Check your tires for wear and tear to ensure they will not suddenly become flat.

2
Practice the beginner tricks such as a wheelie and nose wheelie. Many of the more complicated tricks become possible once you master the basic tricks. Professional riders use the basic tricks as setups to more difficult trick combinations.
-
3
Watch instructional videos posted by professional riders. Many professional riders post videos that display their best tricks along with how they pull them off. Review these videos for a better understanding of how they are riding and for new tricks to add to your runs.

Enter competitions to display your abilities. Flatland BMX competitions take place on local, regional and national levels. Participating in these competitions will not only give you a chance to win prize money but can create opportunities to become a professional rider.
