How to Mega Spin

BMXers participate in a variety of riding disciplines, including dirt jumping, flatland and terrain park. The mega spin is an intermediate flatland trick. As opposed to riders who prefer inclined ramps made of wood, flatland BMXers opt for a smooth stretch of pavement that features a level terrain. Flatland riders equip their BMXs with specialized tires for increased traction during spinning maneuvers. According to "Ride BMX" magazine, the mega spin involves balancing on the rear tire of your bike while executing a series of rotations.

Pedal your BMX slowly across the flatland terrain. Extend your left foot backward to rest on the corresponding peg of the rear wheel. Remove your right foot from the pedal and hover it above the ground.

    • 2

Push down with your left foot to stand above the seat of the BMX. Kick your right leg backward while pulling up on the handlebars. Rotate your shoulders in a clockwise direction as the front tire of the BMX lifts off the riding terrain.

    • 3

Lower your right foot onto the back tire of your BMX bike. Apply downward pressure to push the tire backward. Repeat the process to increase the velocity of your mega spin.

Turn your head in the direction of the spin to avoid getting dizzy. Lean forward as you begin to lose balance. Lower the front tire onto the riding terrain to complete the mega spin.
