How to Do a Bar Spin

Once you've tackled the basic BMX tricks, such as the bunny hop and the manual, you may want to try the bar spin. Though it is relatively easy compared to other BMX tricks, it requires focus and familiarity with BMX riding. The flatland bar spin is performed by spinning the handlebars around one complete revolution. Many variants of the trick exist, and the flatland bar spin requires no special terrain other than a flat, hard surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Gear up in a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads. Mount two pegs on your bike, one on either side of your back tire, if you don't have back pegs in place already. Get on your BMX bike and coast at a slow and steady pace.

    • 2

Stand up on your bike, with your hands firmly grasping the handlebar grips and your feet on the back pegs.

    • 3

Grasp the nose --- the skinny part --- of the seat with your left hand.

    • 4

Lean back enough to lift the front tire off the ground. When the tire leaves the ground, snap the handlebars toward you. Allow the bars to spin around a single revolution.

    • 5

Catch the handlebars with your right hand. Once your front tire hits the ground, grasp the left grip with your left hand, take your feet off the pegs and ride away.
