How to Clean Chrome BMX Frames
A BMX bicycle is a bike designed for use in bicycle motocross. BMX bikes feature a specialized gearing system, compact hubs and hardened metal frames that can take a knock or two. Maintenance on a BMX bike includes cleaning the chrome frame, which can collect a lot of dirt during off-road races. Whether you use your BMX bike for sport or recreation, keeping it clean should be a priority, because dirt can affect the performance of the bike.

1
Set your bike upside down in a well-ventilated work area. This will help prevent the bike from falling while you are scrubbing it clean.
-
2
Apply a dime-size amount of chrome cleaner to a steel wool pad. If your steel frame has rust, use rust remover instead of chrome cleaner.
-
3
Scrub the length of the chrome frame in a straight line motion. Avoid using circular motions, because this can damage the frame.
-
4
Wipe the chrome cleaner off the frame using a clean cloth rag.
-
5
Apply a dime-size amount of chrome polish to a new clean cloth rag. Wipe the length of the frame to polish the chrome.
-
6
Buff the frame clean with a new clean cloth rag.
