How To Do BMX Burnouts

Burnouts occur when vehicles such as muscle cars and motorcycles spin their tires to cause large amounts of white smoke. Often used for show, burnouts are done before and after car racing. BMX bikes are unable to pull off those types of burnouts; however, "skidding" is a type of burnout BMX riders do to show off their skills. The BMX skid happens when riders lock out the back brakes and slide across the ground, dragging the rear tire.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin pedaling at a fast rate to generate as much speed as possible. Steer the bike in a straight line while riding.

    • 2

Squeeze the rear brakes to lock the rear tire in place. You must squeeze the brakes in one motion to ensure the tire locks into place while the bike continues to move forward.

    • 3

Steer the bike as it slides forward and slows down. Continue holding the rear brakes until the bike comes to a full stop.

    • 4

Bring the bike to a complete stop to complete the burnout.
