How to Nose Wheelie in BMX

BMX freestyle is a style of bike riding that involves a variety of tricks. Riders compete against each other pulling off a number of these tricks to earn high scores. The wheelie, also known as manual, is a trick that involves keeping the bike in motion while riding on just one wheel. The nose wheelie means that the rider puts the bike in motion while holding the rear wheel off of the ground.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin pedaling on the bike to move forward. Gain enough speed that you can continue moving without pedaling.

    • 2

Press the front brake to begin to slow the front tire. Don't press the brake so hard that the bike stops. Instead lightly tap the brake to slow the bike.

    • 3

Stand up on the pedals to raise your body over the bike. Lean slightly forward to press your weight over the front tire. Continue leaning forward until the rear tire begins to rise off the ground.

    • 4

Continue tapping the brake to maintain control of the front tire. Do not press it too hard at once as you will fall over the front handle bars when the brake causes the bike to lean forward.

    • 5

Hold the rear tire off the ground for as long as possible. When the bike begins to slow, lean back over the seat of the bike to drop the rear wheel back onto the ground. Begin pedaling once again to keep the bike in motion.
