How to Design Your Own Motorcross Helmet
The extreme sport of motocross requires special gear be worn by participants. The primary piece of equipment is the helmet. This piece of protective gear acts not only as a safety device, but as a personal statement for the racer. Personal style, statements and attitudes are reflected in the color scheme and pattern of the helmet. From loud and proud to dark and gloomy, the design is governed only by the owner. There are a few standard design features that are generally used by competitors.

Fill in the entire helmet area with a background color. If you belong to a team, team colors are a popular choice.

Create a design for the sides of the helmet. Broad line designs, webs or waves are popular choices, along with abstract patterns.

Draw the team or sponsor logo onto the back of the helmet. Some sponsors provide stickers for this purpose. If you do not have a team or sponsor, fill this area with an illustration that fits the space.

Overlay your rider number onto the sides of the helmet. Use a color that will stand out from your design. Choosing a contrasting color assists in this process.
