1
Sketch out the design you want for your jersey. Choose the sport you want to represent so the design can be precise. Determine what items you want on your jersey and position them in the sketch.
-
2
Visit a local sports apparel store and purchase a jersey of your liking. Choose team jersey or, better yet, a blank jersey of your choice so you can add all the items you want based on your design. Select the style of material you would like, nylon, mesh, cotton or polyester. You want to buy a jersey that is comfortable.
-
3
Select the font and letter style for the name you want on the jersey. Visit a local craft or sporting goods store to purchase the letters and number you want to add to the jersey. The lettering and numbers can be iron press on or you can choose to hand stitch.
-
4
Choose your favorite number to add to your jersey. You may also want to shop for a special logo or art design to add to the jersey.
-
5
Choose personal items to add to the jersey once it arrives. You may have a team patch or award, trinket or logo. You can position these items to fit with the form of the jersey and to be seen openly. Use the proper sewing tools to secure the items you want added.
-
6
Align the lettering on the name plate section of the jersey. If you plan to use an iron on application, follow the directions on the lettering package. Apply the same process for adding the numbers. Should you choose to sew the letters, numbers and patches, you can take the jersey to a seamstress or you can stitch them yourself. Use the proper sewing tools to secure the items you want added.
