How to Design Your Own Hockey Jersey
Instructions

1
Design a logo for your team. This can be a clip art or a graphically drawn logo. If you choose to hand-draw something, you'll need to turn it into a .jpg or .gif file for most online companies to be able to upload it and print it on the jerseys. If you already have a logo for your team, make sure you have a high-resolution graphic version of it to submit to an online company or to give to a printer to put on the jersey.

2
Find a company or website that allows you to submit your own designs and artwork. It's cheaper to create the artwork yourself and have it put on the hockey jersey than to have the company design a logo for you. Usually these websites (see References) have templates that allow you to choose your jersey colors and design your jersey logo, text and font.

3
Determine what type of logo, numbers and nameplates you want on the hockey jersey. Some basic house leagues want the cheapest jerseys possible, so they purchase a thin material and have the logo and number heat-pressed on the jersey. Other travel teams choose to have the logo, shoulder logos, number, shoulder numbers and nameplate all stitched on. This is a more costly alternative and could cost well over $100 per jersey.

4
Choose jersey colors that represent your team. Most professional teams have three logos that they rotate throughout the season. For each logo you choose, you will need to have two jerseys, dark and light, for home or away games. Most teams choose a dark jersey in their darkest color and a white jersey trimmed in one of their other colors.

5
Select a font for the words on the jersey. This includes the names (if you wish to have them) on the backs of the jerseys and any written material on the front logo of the jersey. Some writing may be incorporated into the logo design you submit to the company, but other writing may be added if the logo is only a picture. Make sure the names on the jersey are legible and stand out from the color of the rest of the jersey.
