Years of Dedication
-
Officially, the sport of Motocross was created in 1924 as an event called The Scramble. The dedicated fan or rider may consider designing a tattoo in remembrance of this year. The year could be placed inside a number placard, mimicking the placards used on the front of each motocross bike during competitions, or on the side of a helmet shape. The year "1924" could also be represented in Roman numerals or written out in script or block letters. The numbers might also be scrambled inside a design to represent its original name "The Scramble."
Bragging Rights
-
Each motocross rider has a personalized placard and number on his machine. This number is a symbol of pride for the rider as it becomes synonymous with his name. Each bike is colored individually; the uniform each rider wears is made especially for him. These numbers and colors can be turned into a personal tattoo for a rider.
The number might be placed on a placard, shield or abstract background shape and colored to match your outfit. Any markings from the uniform may be placed on or around the number including any stars, stripes or other shapes from the uniform design. This same concept may be used on the shape of a helmet or a gas tank. The dates of any victories or the names of any or all sponsors may be added to the tattoo, along with the make and model of the rider's motorcycle. Numbers may be written out in words instead of numbers or even in Roman numerals.
Wheel of Information
-
For the experienced or long-term motocross rider, a wheel of information tattoo may be a choice. Have a professional artist create a drawing of a motocross bike wheel. Replace the spoke lines with words and numbers that represent important dates and events in your motocross career. The dates can be written out into words, using script or small block letters to extend the lines. Information may include your first competition, your first victory or the dates of all your victories, the purchase of a new bike, the joining of a new team or the addition of new sponsors. Some riders will have significant dates of other importance they will wish to add, such as the names of people who have played significant roles in their careers, or places they have ridden, practiced or lived.
