Motocross Riders And Eligibility
-
All riders must be members of the AMA. Class A participants can compete for cash prizes. All participants must be of legal age, however. If a rider desires to compete below that age, he or she must produce a signed affidavit by a parent or guardian. All professional riders who hold a competition license from another country may compete for amateur cash prize programs, but the rider will not be eligible to receive district points.
Rider Classificaton
-
Riders may only run in classes that they are eligible for. The 2009 class structure is based on an A, B, C eligibility. Riders who desire to move up from a Class C license to a Class B license will be judged and awarded on the basis of the Rider Performance Value (RPV). A rider may choose to move up, but once the individual has assumed that class standing, he may not return to a lower class.
Entries
-
All entry forms must be written legibly and in ink. The organizers will deny an entry unless a rider has made arrangements to pay for medical costs associated with an accident. No more than one engine number can be carried on an entry blank. Any entrant can be removed from an event by the organizing body.
Youth Events
-
AMA operates and offers youth events on a regular basis. To be considered a "youth" in the context of this article, youngsters must be no younger than 7 and no older than 16. Youth participants must have a guardian and/or parent at all events. A youth must be sturdy enough to ride a motorcycle effectively. The organizers maintain the right to ban a youth rider from the track in the event that a rider fails to maintain his motorcycle at all times.
Points
-
Youth riders receive district points in the same way that amateur or pro riders do. In this case, the point process is determined by the number of entries in a field. Therefore, if a field starts two to four entrants, then the point cycle is 10 for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 4th for 3rd and 1 for 4th. For larger fields, the points schedule will be higher.
