History of Kimber
-
Kimber Manufacturing was originally founded by a father and son team in Oregon -- Jack and Greg Warne -- in 1979. Jack Warne, originally from Australia, came to the United States when his Australian arms company was bought out by an American firm. Kimber's first weapon was a .22-caliber rifle that had the reputation of being extremely accurate. During the 1980s, Kimber went through a series of financial woes. By the 1990s, Kimber was manufacturing rifles and a full line of pistols. The company is is especially well known for its 1911 models.
