Lead Gloves Combat Tools

Lead gloves, also often known as sap gloves, have been used by police officers, security guards, bouncers and members of the armed forces for many years. Lead combat gloves are usually ordinary-looking leather gloves with lead sewn into pouches covering the knuckle or palm area. Types of lead include lead powder, lead shot and molded lead clay. Sap gloves are not used as often in police work as they once were as they have been accused of leading to police brutality and banned in many locations.

    • Sap gloves are the basic full leather glove used for combat purposes. They come in different models and sizes with some having more lead than others. They usually come with lead covering the knuckle areas for use in punching, and some have additional lead in the palm area for use in slapping.     Palm Saps

    • Palm saps vary from regular sap gloves because they do not cover the entire hand. They consist of a piece of leather that wraps around the outside of the hand to enclose a lead cylinder in the palm. This makes the palm sap less detectable than a normal glove because not everyone can see it being used right away. This type of weapon is used for hand-to-hand combat by allowing the person using it to give an open-handed slap to their victim. If the victim did not see the palm sap, he may believe that the person using it was simply capable of hurting them without a weapon at all.

    • Lead gloves can be used to give more power to punches in martial arts. They can also be used to stop people from breaking laws, hurting other people or breaking rules. If used improperly, however, they can cause broken bones, torn muscles and a lot of unnecessary pain. They are generally considered a personal defense weapon because they can help an individual to protect his person, property or safety of another from harm. These gloves are generally non-lethal and therefore are considered safer than knifes or guns, but also can generate a considerate amount of injury.
