How to Load a Side by Side ATV Into a Pickup

Loading a side-by-side ATV into a pickup can be a quick process by using arched ramps specially designed for loading ATVs and off-road vehicles into an elevated bed. Side-by-side ATVs pose more risk during loading due to their weight, which is generally 300 to 400 lbs. more than a quad. Furthermore, side-by-side ATVs have a higher center of gravity, making placement and securing of the ramp crucial.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the tailgate of the pickup and lean the ramp(s) into place with the ramp flange(s) resting on top of the tailgate.

    • 2

Secure the ramp(s) to the truck by latching the attached hooks under the bumper lip.

    • 3

Ensure the ramps rest at roughly a 45-degree angle to the ground or less. Lesser angles are ideal to avoid a rollover. If you're using two ramps, one for each side of the vehicle, ensure the ramps are properly separated to receive the tires safely.

Drive the side-by-side ATV up to the ramp with a slow but steady acceleration. As you begin to climb the ramp, maintain throttle and progress up the ramp until the ATV rests in the bed of the pickup.
