Examine the features the parks offer, the distances between fixtures, and where entrances and exits are located. Define the different types of levels of skate parks.

Plan the geometry of your skate park. Plan the size of your park and use graph paper to co-ordinate all of the features evenly.

    • 3

Sketch your first skate park plan. Draw the silhouette of the number eight. Create the top half of the eight larger and this will be the more advanced section of your skate park. Start by sketching a bird's-eye view of the park. Draw a sloped entrance in the smaller circular section. Draw two rectangular shapes apart from each other to create baby ramps. Draw an inner circle to create the ledge and ramps. Sketch the more advanced section of the park like a bowl with a 3-foot ramp in the center of the park. Write 2 feet and an arrow next to your drawing to label the levels and heights of the features in your design.

Design a different skate park. Draw a circle in the center of your page to create a skate park bowl. Next to it draw a rectangle to highlight a half pipe and surrounding the half pipe draw three different types of ramps and ledges for practicing tricks. Draw a simple rectangle, a wiggled line ramp and three leveled steps Leave a lot of space in between each ramp so there is a flat space to skate.

Create a simple starter skate park. Draw a rectangle. Divide the rectangle into four sections. In each section create a separate park within the park. In one section draw a curved bowl shape with edges diagonally sloped towards the ledge of the bowl. Outside of this section draw a flat surface with a staircase leading into an open plan of the skate park. Add a metal rail to the side of the staircase. In the empty sections draw simple ramps on either corner.
