How to Build a Children's Skateboard Ramp

Various types of skateboarding ramps exist for homemade construction. Kicker ramps consist of a simple structure and fulfill the needs of the novice skateboarder attempting to learn the fundamentals of skateboarding, including board control and balance. The steady incline of the kicker ramp minimizes the risk of injury for a child just starting to feel comfortable on the board. This kicker ramp's basic composition of separate parts allows for easy storage and protection from the elements.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay two cinder blocks horizontally side by side on a driveway or paved area, leaving a distance of 4 feet in between them to compensate for a standard-size piece of plywood. Add cinder blocks to increase the height of the ramp as the child's skills increase.

    • 2

Place the edge of the plywood onto the two spaced-out cinder blocks, creating a slightly inclined ramp.

    • 3

Push the bricks under the space between the cinder blocks and the plywood, ensuring stability for the skateboarder to roll up and down the ramp.

    • 4

Place the metal sign on the edge of the plywood touching the ground, creating a level roll up for the take off of the ramp. Duct tape the sign to the plywood to confirm it stays in place while the child skates.

    • 5

Tell the child to roll up and down the ramp a few times to establish the ramp's safety as well as a sturdy construction.
