You should set the resistance on the bike to a level that you're able to bike through but that's tough enough to make you work. Pedaling with no resistance won't burn extra calories or help you lose weight.

Ride the bike as often as you'd like. Because you are not damaging muscle fibers when using the bike, (unlike what occurs when weight lifting) you don't need as long of a rest period. So if you have a spare minute, you should use the air bike.

You should ride the bike for at least 20 minutes at a time. This increases your heartrate and helps you burn the most calories. If you ride your bike less than this, your heartrate won't reach its calorie-burning stage.
