Do aerobics! Cardio exercises melt away ugly belly fat. Take daily walks, jog, or run if you are physically up to it. Aerobics exercises do not build up muscles, but they burn fat by turning up your metabolism like a roaring flame. If you are new to aerobics, attend an aerobics class several times a week. Classes give you person-to-person contact with others for socialization as well as an instructor to watch your form through the routine. Use tapes or DVDs at home for daily workouts.

Go to the pool. Swimming is another great aerobic exercise that also uses isometrics to work the muscles in mild strength training and is one of the very few combination exercises you can do to get the benefits of both. A backyard pool will suffice if nothing else is available, but a lap pool is much better because you can get a rhythm going during your strokes.

Eat a healthy well-balanced diet. Stay away from diets that restrict one food group---or only allow one food group. A diet is not something short-term that you deal with for a few days; eating well is a long-term life choice. Make sure you do not restrict yourself to the point of breaking down and "cheating" on a regular basis.

Drink plenty of water. Water makes you feel full, so it's easier to eat less. Water also keeps your body well hydrated and helps your skin maintain elasticity---meaning your skin will better shrink to fit your weight loss so it shows off your muscles better.
